39th Regiment O.V.I.

LEWIS J. FINCH, son of Calvin and Sarah Finch, was born in Warren Tp. June 25, 1841. Enlisted at the formation of Co. B, 39th O.V.I. and re-enlisted with the regiment. He was for some time on detached duty, and went through with Sherman to the coast. No wounds, or sickness worthy of mention during his four years. He received his discharge with the regiment as a veteran.

GRANVILLE HAWKINS, son of John and Mary Hawkins, was born in Union in 1839. Enlisted from Warren in Co. B, 39th O.V.I. Aug. 16, 1861. Was never in hospital nor wounded, and was in all the fighting and service of the regiment for three years. He was once captured and held for a few days; when he escaped and rejoined his regiment. Discharged on the expiration of his term in Aug. 1864.

WALTER TRACHEL, son of George and Elizabeth Trachel, was born in Saxe-Weimar, Germany, Feb. 26, 1837. Went out July 22, 1861, in Co. B, 39th O.V.I.  He continued with the regiment in its various service through the term of his enlistment. Was sick two or three times during this period; once dangerously about three months at Camp Dennison with inflammatory rheumatism. Was never wounded or captured, and received his discharge at the expiration of his term at Chattanooga dated Aug. 12, 1864.
